SAM FALLS, SEPTEMBER SPRING

AN INSTALLATION PERFORMANCE

This unique performance is a tribute to falls’s close friendship with poet and musician jamie kanzler, who died in 2013 at the age of 24. Kanzler, whom falls considered his god brother, performed music under the name oldd news and wrote poetry as september spring.

During the performance, gold and hart dance atop twin canvases meticulously daubed with orderly splotches of colorful paint. They dance to kanzler’s songs. Once finished, the canvases are hung in the same theater space as part of a proper accompanying exhibition.
